Jossie Pérez, star of Carmen on the Common, returns for the Carmen Gala
Dress Fitting for Jossie Pérez at Fiandaca Studio Friday, May 9 at 11am
Boston, MA -Mezzo-soprano Jossie Pérez, who set hearts aflame with her fiery portrayal of Carmen in BLO's Carmen on the Common last September, returns to Boston for BLO's Carmen Gala on Saturday, May 17 at the Four Seasons Hotel (BLO's Official Hotel). For this special appearance, fashion designer Alfred Fiandaca, who has dressed many stylish women including Audrey Hepburn, Lady Bird Johnson, Julie Andrews, Nancy Reagan, Joan Kennedy and many others, will design an original dress for Ms. Pérez.
Media is welcome to get a sneak peak at the dress fitting for Ms. Pérez at Fiandaca, 73 Newbury Street, Boston on Friday, May 9 at 11am. Mr. Fiandaca is also designing dresses for other "stars" of the Carmen Gala - Co-chair Norma Saunders and Gala Committee Member Caroline Collings - who also will be fitted for their dresses that morning.
While in Boston, Ms. Pérez will catch a performance of BLO's Die Fledermaus at The Shubert Theatre. She also is the focus of "Becoming a Diva," a new documentary by La Plaza, the award-winning Latino series on WGBH (BLO's Broadcast Sponsor). The episode, which chronicles Ms. Pérez's appearance in Carmen on the Common, airs on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30pm on WGBH 2.
Boston Lyric Opera celebrates the phenomenal success of Carmen on the Common with the Carmen Gala on the evening of Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, hosted by Co-Chairs Norma and Roger Saunders. Proceeds from this year's Gala will benefit the Fund for Emerging Artists. Tickets are $500 and $1,000.
